School Lunch and Snack Policy

At our school, we promote an environment that values autonomy and family responsibility in students’ nutrition. While we do not offer a lunch service, we encourage families to prepare and send food that promotes healthy and safe habits for their children. Below, we detail our key recommendations:

1. Healthy Eating and Suitable Containers

  • Balanced Menus: We suggest including fresh and nutritious foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Please avoid sending ultra-processed products or those high in sugar.
  • Safe Containers: Use airtight and resistant containers to prevent spills. We recommend thermoses for hot food and thermal bags to maintain temperature.
  • Practical Portions: Choose individual portions that are easy to handle, considering the independence of students according to their age.

2. Snacks for Break Times

  • Healthy Break: Include snacks such as fresh fruit, nuts, natural yogurt, or homemade cereal bars. Avoid sweets or products with excess salt or preservatives.
  • Hydration: Remember to send a reusable bottle with water, avoiding sugary or energy drinks.

3. Important Notices

  • No Access to Ovens/Microwaves: For safety and to prevent contamination, the school does not have appliances to heat food. Please send meals ready to eat at room temperature or in insulated containers.
  • Avoid Perishable Foods: If sending dairy or meat products, please ensure you use coolers or ice packs to maintain the cold chain.

4. Community Collaboration

This approach seeks not only to care for the health of our students, but also to teach them to value mindful and sustainable eating. We appreciate your commitment to:

  • Reducing Waste: Use reusable containers and avoid single-use plastics.
  • Respecting Allergies: Do not send products containing nuts, shellfish, or other common allergens if the class has restrictions.

The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. To ensure a safe environment, it is essential that you inform the school about:

Dietary Restrictions

  • Allergies or intolerances: If your child has any food allergies (e.g., nuts, dairy, shellfish) or medical conditions (e.g., celiac disease), please inform us immediately.
  • Specific diets: Vegetarian, vegan, religious, or medically prescribed diets.

Use of Medication

  • Regular or emergency medication: If your child requires medication during the school day (e.g., inhalers, insulin, antihistamines), please provide it to the school nurse with a doctor’s prescription and written authorization.
  • Updates: Any changes in treatment must be reported promptly.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for all students.
