About Tips

The International Preparatory History

1975 -2025

Founded in 1975, The International Preparatory School is a small international school located on beautiful grounds in the foothills of the Andes in Santiago, Chile. The International Preparatory School provides a distinguished education for children from 3 to 18 years old, beginning in Playgroup and continuing to Year 13 (Grade 12). With its British-based curriculum, full English instruction, nurturing atmosphere and dedicated staff, The International Preparatory School offers the individual care and attention that allow children of all ages and abilities to thrive. The school is committed to fostering a secure happy, and stimulating environment in which students are inspired to reach their full potential by developing a lifelong love of learning.

The International Preparatory School is recognized as a Centre for Cambridge International Examinations.  As such, the school is authorized to administer the International Certificate of Secondary Education(IGCSE) and A- AS Levels, which are accepted for admission to U.K. universities as well as many universities around the world.

The International Preparatory School is regularly inspected by representatives of the U.S. State Department for its inclusion on the list of approved school for U.S. government employees and contractors. The school has also been approved for the same purposes by the British Council.

The International Preparatory School offers the international community the opportunity to place their children in a local school while ensuring that they receive a multicultural education of the highest international standards.  Each child develops his or her academic ability along with a strong sense of identity, well-being and self-confidence.

What makes TIPS different?

TIPS differs from other international schools in Chile, in that we teach only in English, from the start to the finish of the schooling years. TIPS is the only completely English-speaking school for all ages within Chile. The Cambridge curriculum we offer, adheres to strict international guidelines, and is recognised all across the world.

Because TIPS is a smaller school, we have the luxury of providing a more-personalised, pastoral care approach to our students, a factor that not many schools are able to provide.

The TIPS Method

Our distinctive method of education involves personalised care for children. As we are a smaller school, we have the luxury of having smaller classes, and a higher teacher-to-student ratio, meaning that more time and effort is spent on each child, and a more personalised plan for the emotional and academic development can take place.

We provide the space for children to recognise what their passions are, and develop the necessary skills and abilities required to navigate in today’s modern world.

Our teaching philosophys

is “to be dedicated to the individual.” We provide a safe, emotionally and intellectually supportive environment. We take great pleasure in tailoring a specific program for your child, to ensure they get the most out of their education. Our high-quality teachers and specialist tutors are here to help nurture your child.
